Shield Guard and Buildings

If a unit occupying a building has the shield guard ability, and a model within 3" of the building is hit by a ranged attack. Can you shield guard it? And if so, does the model inside have to be Within 3" or can you redirect to any model in the building?

I feel like you shouldn’t be able to shield-guard models outside the building from inside? Like, is the shield-guarding model jumping out the window to step in front of the bullet? And then bouncing back inside afterwards?

I know that technically sometimes shield-guard doesn’t make sense (a small base model standing behind a huge-based model realistically couldn’t block fire from in front), but that’s just the reality of tabletop gaming. This would be a step too far though imo.

Yes you can, and you measure from the building footprint, not the individual shield guard model.
