Absylonia2 feat and Proteus tentacles

Absylonia2’s feat causes the melee weapons for models in her battlegroup to become RNG 2. This would, as written, decrease the range of Proteus’ tentacles from RNG 3 to RNG 2. Is this an intended interaction?
