Echidna [Light Shyeel Myrmidon]
“Sergeant Carruthers knew that the difficult part of taking on the Iosan equivalent of warjacks was taking down their power fields – once these immaterial kinetic defences had been dealt with, the mechanism underneath was surprisingly delicate. But something seemed wrong today, as volley after volley of gunfire impacted on the protective sheaths of energy enveloping the advancing constructs without any of the telltale flares of a failing field generator. When it came, it was much too late to capitalise on the realisation that that seemingly innocuous engine hanging back behind its advancing fellow constructs must have had something to do with their uncanny resilience on this day…”
A support myrmidon based on the Gorgon chassis and only rendered distinct by its more complex latticework of rune lines and nodes, the Echidna does not carry impressive armaments to discourage its controlling warcasters from sending the myrmidon into the fray, but has improved defenses instead to make it more difficult to take the Echidna out at range. Rather than fighting, the Echidna’s role on the battlefield is to hang back and replenish the power fields of other myrmidons and its controlling warcaster.

Damage Grid: See Gorgon Warmachine stat card.
Melee Armament: Glaive (Left Arm, Right Arm; POW 4, POW+S 12. While neither of the Echidna’s Arm systems is crippled, an Echidna can make a combo attack with both of its glaives simultaneously, using both of the myrmidon’s initial attacks to make a single devastating strike. Make a melee attack roll. On a hit, make a damage roll with a POW equal to the STR of the myrmidon plus twice the POW of this weapon)
Base Size: Medium
Cortex: Custom Iosan aurum-grade equivalent (INT 2; the cortex has been modified to provide 3 PER but does not grant a RAT bonus. If an Echidna develops an imprint, there is a chance of 1-3 on 1d6 that the rolled imprint is ignored and it gains the Enduring imprint instead (see IKRPG, p. 325)).
Power Field: 6 boxes
Field-Dependent: When this character’s Field Generator system (G) is crippled, this character loses Field Re-Integrator and Girded.
Field Re-Integrator: Instead of making attacks, the Echidna can target a friendly character equipped with a power field or force field within 10” (60 feet) and within line of sight of the myrmidon with this device. That character immediately recovers 1d3+1 boxes of its power field or force field. The Echidna can use this device up to two additional times per activation by spending a point of focus for each additional use, and may keep targeting the same character with each use of the device. The Echidna cannot use the field re-integrator while it is engaged in melee.
Morgan’s Note: The Echidna’s field re-integrator is affected by all abilities, spells and effects that affect the range of ranged attacks, e.g. the Snipe spell (see IKRPG, p. 244).
Focus Battery: Focus points on the Echidna are not removed during its controlling warcaster’s Maintenance Phase (if currently part of a battlegroup) or the Echidna’s Maintenance Phase (if not bonded to a warcaster).
Girded: The Echidna does not suffer blast damage. Friendly characters in B2B with the Echidna also do not suffer blast damage.
Open Fists: Both of the Echidna’s arm systems are equipped with light myrmidon fists.
Redundant Field Generator: In any activation in which the Echidna does not use its field re-integrator, it regains 1d3+1 depleted boxes of its power field without needing to spend focus to do so.
Additionally, the Echidna may spent any number of focus points during its activation to replenish its power field, recovering 1d3+1 points of its power field per point of focus spent.
Peak Operational Duration: 2.5 hrs combat
Morgan’s Notes: Don’t forget that myrmidons need to have a non-crippled Field Generator (G) system to create a power field. An Echidna can neither regenerate the power field of a myrmidon with a crippled field generator, nor can it regenerate its own power field while its own field generator system is crippled.
