Volume Fire Thoughts

I’m a newer Winter Korps player and I’ve been experimenting with different Jack loadouts lately and was curious what everyone thought about volume fire. I’ve used with suppressors and it feels ok but I don’t know if it’s worth the points on either of the Jacks.

If its just surpressors you’re worried about, I would play a few more games with them. They tend to do very well for me. If you put them in a Savaryn list, they’re even better.

Volume Fire is pretty good, considering the models which carry the rule.

Being able to make 3 boosted damage rolls at power 14 is really nice.

Bonus on the RAT verus lager bases is what makes volume fire interesting, bot h from a focus efficiency perspective and non-boostable grunts attacks.

Yeah, it reduces the need to boost to hit against say, a jack or beast with DEF12. On the other hand, unboostable volume fire feels awkward because you’d often need a bonus to hit against smaller bases (which tend to have higher DEF), and if you attack larger bases, the effective POW14 makes for unimpressive damage if it can’t be boosted.

On jacks and beasts and things that can boost damage, Volume Fire feels good because you’re getting what is effectively a main ranged weapon’s damage output with an extra “free” bonus to hit.

Volume Fire as a whole is amazing. Khador got the short stick with smaller ranges and less Pow compared to some others but this is still one of the most reliable guns we have access to.

I have been liking the Dire Wolf option more lately as you can build a very cheap double gun jack for less than a Great Bear and the 1 extra inch of movement is better.

On the Suppressors it is actually less good (normally) as you cannot boost their damage. With Savaryn Suppressors are just as good with chances to hit Pow 16 and Rat 9. To me the Pow is what is king.
