Broad-Script Runes [Mechanikal Modification]
Cost: see below
Description: This modification is intended to make mechanika cheaper and faster to produce, at the cost of reducing its utility and versatily. Simply put, the mechanika runes inscribed on a runeplate are expanded to allow them to be produced much faster (and, thus, more cheaply), as the work required is much less intricate.
Special Rules: When inscribing broad-script runes on a runeplate, each rune uses up additional space on the runeplate:
- A standard 1-point rune may be broad-scripted into a rune that takes up 2 rune points’ worth of a rune plate’s capacity, and can be inscribed within 4 days for 80 gc, or into a rune that takes up 4 rune points’ worth of a rune plate’s capacity, which can be inscribed within 2 days for 50 gc.
- A standard 2-point rune can be broad-scripted into a rune that takes up 4 rune points’ worth of a rune plate’s capacity, and can be inscribed within 1 week for 150 gc.
The difficulty in inscribing the runes is not reduced, and neither is their power consumption altered (e.g. a 2-point rune inscribed in broad-script uses up 4 rune points of the runeplate’s capacity, but still only draws 2 rune points’ worth of power).
It is possible to mix broad-script runes and standard runes on a single runeplate, as long as that runeplate’s capacity is not exceeded.
Comments welcome, as usual.
